Mission/Purpose:

In the last twenty years, traditional music, from different regions of the world, has been gaining recognition and appreciation by the European public. This process has been much slower in the United States. The goal of TimnaTal Music is to bring a variety of traditional music, with a focus on the Middle East, Mediterranean/Balkan and Central Asia, to the audience of the Davis/Sacramento CA area. This has been done via radio over the last 18 years, through a weekly radio show called Crossing Continents on KDVS, 90.3 FM. (www.kdvs.org) , and through bringing live concerts to the Davis area. A future goal for TimnaTal Music is to engage in recording and releasing traditional world music, and collaborating with others who share similar interests.

By sharing musical traditions from around the world, TimnaTal Music hopes to open the door to understanding and appreciation for the richness of peoples and cultures who share our world.
